Portable Espresso Maker: Reimagined

Inspired by portable espresso makers I had seen online, I decided to apply my own spin with self-imposed challenges.

I love to explore unconventional forms. In this case I wanted to make sure the product couldn’t roll away during transport. This led me to explore ways to make a flat sided object feel comfortable to hold, and fit in a car cup holder.

None of the horizontal loops felt right, so I went back to the traditional, vertical loop.

I explored the use of leather as a way to heighten the luxurious feel. Through the design process I realized that I could hide functions of the product behind leather. The resulting unwrap and “reveal” would build excitement for the coming shot of espresso.

A default pressure is shown. Press the screen to cycle through pressures.
